Watch the video about how to round numbers. Rounding is really useful because it allows to estimate! Estimating allows us to work out number sentences quickly giving us an idea of the answer. We can use it to check our workings out are broadly correct as well.

Round this numbers to 100
Example: 156 would mean you look at the Tens column (156) and that number tells you to round up or down. So in this case I would round up and the answer would be 200!

Now, round the numbers to 100 in the number sentence and then add or subtract to get an estimation of the answer!
Example: 435 (400) + 879 (900) = 1300
